Tips To Get Your Zipper Unstuck

by Tom Johnson

Many clothing items we use everyday have zippers on them. Metal zippers are widely used in all types of clothing and shoes. Since we use this many zippers, they are going to get stuck from time to time. Because they get stuck often, people have to be careful about where they are when something like this happens. Imagine being at a friends house and the zipper on your boots gets stuck. How are you going to get home in bare feet?

Sliders move up and down the zipper track frequently. Because of this movement, it is a given that some piece of clothing will get stuck in the zipper grooves. The tab pulls it in and becomes stuck.

Something else that can happen is the slider can become bent itself. Because of this, the slider cannot move up and down the track smoothly. The slider itself can bend making it more likely to catch on all the teeth the track has. The slider has two sides to it that hold it on the trap. If one of those sides bends in or outward, the slider will not be able to function properly.

Lip balm is a quick way to get your slider moving up and down again. Simply take some lip balm out of your car or purse, and dab some on the zipper track. Push and pull the zipper until it started to move.

Liquid soap is another tool that you can use to get your slider loose from the teeth on the track. The soap acts as a lubricant for the tab to move back and forth. Just wiggle the tab until it comes loose.

These tips should help you get your zipper unstuck when you are in a bind. A useful tip is to keep these items with you.
